Discover the 13th annual Days of the Galera of Cambrils

The 13th edition of the Galera of Cambrils has started, an event which will last three weeks, from the 3rd of February to the 26th.  During that period, the galera will be the protagonist featured in all the dishes in Cambrils’s restaurants, as well as a competition for young cooks and sampling of popular fare.
A trip thru the excellent “Cambrilenca  gastronomy”:  Seafood cooking with Mediterranean flavors.

This delectable crustacean  is one of the tastiest of the Mediterranean zone, used either in the most traditional cooking or in the most Avant-gardeway  for big and small chefs.
The city of Cambrils, in addition of the famed beautiful beaches and its good Mediterranean climate, is also known as the craddle of great cooks, who have known to highlight Cambrils for its excellent cuisine thru events like the Galera which is its centre piece.

“Years ago, the Galera was an event only known by local villages along the coast.  After 13 years of these festivities, the Galera has a special reputation within gastronomic circles.  Cambrils has highlighted the Galera and the Galera has highlighted Cambrils” explained the spokesperson for the Association of Hotel and Catering of Cambrils, Pep Pellicer, during the inauguration.

In its thirteenth edition,”Las Jornadas de la Galera in Cambrils”  offers for 24 days an agenda full of cultural and gastronomic activities as well a culinary competition “De la mar als fogons”, where young chefs will be test their talent and imagination.
A contest designed to encourage students and kitchen assistants, offering them an excellent product of the sea to elaborate a unique and innovative recipe with the great star of this event: the “galera”.
